Jayant Kadambi, Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Jayant Kadambi has over 18 years of experience in the areas of networking, hardware architecture and semiconductors. Prior to co-founding YuMe in 2004, Jayant was Vice President R&D and Officer of Netopia, Inc., a publicly held manufacturer of DSL equipment and service provider for ISP’s and carriers. Jayant joined Netopia upon its acquisition in 1999 of StarNet Technologies, a VoDSL company he had co-founded. Prior to co-founding StarNet, Jayant held various technical and marketing positions in AMD’s networks division, and AT&T Bell Labs, where he worked on high-speed LAN systems, hardware and DSL technologies.
Jayant received his BSEE and Masters in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic. Jayant is the co-author of a book on Gigabit Ethernet and the holder of several patents in the networking arena.
Ayyappan Sankaran, Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer
Ayyappan Sankaran has over 18 years of experience in software architecture, design and development in the areas of real time embedded systems, voice and data networks and medical instrumentation. Prior to co-founding YuMe in 2004, Ayyappan was Director of software development at Netopia, Inc., a publicly held manufacturer of DSL equipment and service provider for ISP’s and carriers. Ayyappan was a co-founder of StarNet Technologies, a VoDSL company that was acquired by Netopia in 1999. Prior to co-founding StarNet, Mr. Sankaran held various technical positions in Octel communications (acquired by Lucent technologies), Abbott Labs, and Ready Systems.
Ayyappan holds a BSEE from the University of Engineering, Madras, India and a Masters in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas.
Tim Laehy, Chief Financial Officer
Tim Laehy is a senior-level financial executive with over 20 years’ experience with both public and private companies with a deep understanding of software, hardware, and services businesses. Prior to joining YuMe, he was CFO of Cloudshield Technologies, a leading provider of cyber security solutions through its acquisition by SAIC. He has also held CFO positions with MetroFi, a wireless broadband service provider; Collation, a supplier of data center configuration management software through its acquisition by IBM’s Software Group; and Covad Communications where he led its IPO. Additionally; Mr. Laehy served as VP, Corporate Finance and Treasurer of Leasing Solutions, as well as serving in multiple senior finance roles with Recovery Equity Partners, Guarantee Acceptance Capital Corporation, Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, and Union Carbide Corporation.
Tim received a BS and MBA from from State University of New York (SUNY) Buffalo.
Scot McLernon, Chief Revenue Officer
Scot brings over 15 years of interactive marketing experience to the YuMe team. He has built and led three successful web sales teams, including at CBS Marketwatch and CBS Interactive. Most recently, McLernon was President of Upstream Group, Inc. where he developed Habitat–the industry’s only combined training and networking event for sellers. McLernon was on the Board of Directors for the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) for five years and co–founded the Bay Area Interactive Group (BIG) in 2004, which educates and helps network the Bay Area’s interactive marketing community.
Recognizing his accomplishments as an innovator and industry pioneer, McLernon received the ad:tech Industry Achievement Award in 2007.
Michael Hudes, Executive Vice President
Michael brings an extensive advertising and digital media background to the YuMe team. Michael previously served as CEO of Keystream, where he led the development of a platform for publishers and advertisers to create dynamic overlay advertising units to more effectively monetize video content. Prior to that he served as President of Innovation Strategy and Growth for Interpublic Group's Mediabrands and was the President and Chief Operating Officer of Organic, Inc., where he oversaw the company's evolution from a 17 person shop dedicated to building websites to a 1,300 person team focused on digital marketing services.
Michael graduated with Honors with a BA in Political Science from the University of Rochester.
Bryan Everett, Executive Vice President, Business Development
Bryan brings to YuMe 13 years of sales and sales management experience in online advertising and platform sales. Previously, Everett served as executive vice president of business development at Kontera, where he played an integral part in scaling the company to a 150 person global leader in semantic advertising and information technologies. Prior to joining Kontera, Bryan served as senior vice president of sales and operations for LookSmart, Ltd, where he was responsible for their paid listings and publisher service businesses. Everett started his online advertising career at 24/7 Real Media, where he led regional media and sales for search and technology and rose to vice president of west coast sales.
Bryan holds an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University and a B.A. in International Business from Lehigh University.
Ed Haslam, Senior Vice President, Marketing
Ed is a strategic marketing executive with substantial experience in online media, networked communications, and infrastructure computing. Prior to joining YuMe to oversee Marketing, Ed was co-founder & VP Marketing of Ludic Labs (Groupon), which developed both the social media community Diddit.com and local commerce service OfferFoundry.com. Prior to Ludic Labs, he served as the founding marketing executive for several other venture-backed technology companies including Orbital Data (Citrix) and Inktomi Corporation (Yahoo!).
Ed holds a B.S. in Structural Engineering, an M.S. in Systems Engineering and ABD in Operations Research from Purdue University.
Frank Barbieri, Senior Vice President, Emerging Platforms
Frank has extensive experience connecting consumers with video via a critical screen – their mobile device. Prior to joining YuMe, Frank served as the Chief Product Officer of Transpera, a company he founded. Prior to Transpera, he ran media products at InfoSpace and previously drove a Microsoft Windows Mobile media device and services product group. Previously, Frank was at Onvia, a company he helped take public and prior to that, spearheaded MSNBC’s online video distribution efforts and interactive content group.
A graduate of Bates College with a B.A. in Politics and Philosophy, Frank started his career as a photojournalist, documenting the plight of refugees globally.
Owen Hanks, General Manager, Mobile - Europe
Owen Hanks joined YuMe as its General Manager, Mobile – Europe via YuMe’s acquisition of Appealing Media, a London-based company that Owen founded and was CEO of and successfully built into Europe’s largest mobile video advertising network. Owen has 20 years of senior management experience in digital media and advertising in the UK and European markets. Previously, he held senior management roles at large corporate organizations (BskyB, News Corp and BBC) and also early stage start-up businesses (Rhythm New Media and Open TV), working across all digital platforms: mobile, interactive TV, content and advertising.
Owen is married with identical twin daughters and enjoys participating in triathlons. He holds a Media and Production Degree from Farmborough College of Technolgy in the UK.
